Code of Conduct
Birmingham Furs is a monthly social event for members of the furry community and their friends. To maintain our reputation, the continuing good relationship with our host venue, and the enjoyment and safety of all our attendees, we have put in place the following Code of Conduct.

-----

All meet attendees agree to follow this Code of Conduct.
Please take a moment to read it. If anything here is unclear, please ask a meet organiser about it. By entering our meet venue, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct in its entirety.

-
You must be 16 or over to take part in the meet, to enter designated meet areas, and to take part in the fursuit walk. This is a non-negotiable rule due to strict UK Child Protection laws.
-
Nobody under 18 may buy alcohol from the bar, and nobody may knowingly buy alcohol for anyone under 18. Like all bars, the venue may ask for ID if you look under 25. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own government-approved ID, either a passport, or a driving licence (full or provisional). The bar will not accept any other forms of ID such as PASS Scheme Cards, College or University Identification Cards. All attendees under 18 must collect a wristband from the Artist’s Alley, which must be worn for the duration of the meet.
-
No drug use is allowed on the premises. This includes any substances that are currently illegal under UK law, or research chemicals not intended for human consumption. Any attendees found in possession of, or showing signs of recent substance use will be asked to leave the event, and may face a permanent ban.
-
Strictly NO outside food and drink. We and the bar operate a zero tolerance policy on this. If you are found with these items in the bar you will be asked to leave and may be banned from the next meet. Sealed bottled water is allowed ONLY, and it must remain sealed when on the premises. You can ask for water at the bar for free. Attendees sneaking in their own drinks directly harms our relationship with the venue, and our staff team will be on the lookout for this.
-
The lift present at the venue is reserved for attendees, out of suit, with impaired mobility ONLY. Fursuiters who are able-bodied must use the stairs for ascent and descent to and from the ground floor, and we advise removing your fursuit head as you traverse them. Fursuits, or fursuit parts such as ears and tails, are not allowed inside the lifts under any circumstances. The Birmingham Furs Staff Team are not responsible for any injury or damage resulting from misuse, and any person(s) causing damages to the lift by improper use is solely responsible.
-
Please keep the path outside the venue clear AT ALL TIMES. This is a legal obligation the venue has, and not doing so will result in fines. The staff team will ask attendees to clear the way, and any attendees ignoring this rule repeatedly or mocking staff will receive a warning.
-
Alcohol is to be consumed in moderation. All attendees are expected to know their limits, not leave any drinks unattended, and all attendees are responsible for their own words and actions even while drinking.
-
All attendees must behave with common sense, and in a manner suitable for a public place, as per the Public Order Act 1986. Please treat others with respect. Attendees must make sure that nothing they say or do could offend public decency. This rule also applies during the fursuit walk, whether an attendee is in suit or not.
-
In extension to rule 8, use of portable speakers (including bluetooth speakers) is not permitted.
-
-
Under no circumstances are you to wear or display any symbols or uniform of hate groups. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.
-
No fetish wear, such as BDSM clothing, clothing that shows explicit images, leashes, harnesses etc. are allowed, either in or out of fursuit. HOWEVER, ‘Pup hoods’ may be worn on their own, inside the venue only. Collars are fine. Please note there can be exceptions to this- for example a sled dog fursuiter wearing a sledding harness may be permitted. Pup hoods may not be worn outside of the venue, this includes the fursuit walk. We encourage anyone unsure to contact a member of staff before the meet, or showing it to a staff member PRIOR to putting the article on.
-
You may not bring any real or realistic-looking weapons. See our Props Policy for more information. If you are unsure about an item, ask an organiser, ideally before the meet.
-
All attendees must respect the venue. Keep the venue as neat and tidy as possible.. All rubbish must be taken with you or disposed of properly.
-
We have dedicated separate storage and fursuit changing areas. This is for fursuiters and their helpers only – please do not gather or socialise here. Please keep the area tidy and store your cases thoughtfully. No drinks (except SEALED water) may be taken into this area. Strictly no photography or recording equipment to be taken into this area.
-
Animals are allowed at the meets, but you MUST notify staff prior to attending. The venue allows animals inside until 7:30pm. The venue can get crowded and loud, and we ask attendees to consider the risks to both the animal and other attendees- who for example may be fearful of dogs, or allergic to pet dander. We will ask an attendee to leave with their animal if for example if the staff team believe it is stressed, or causing problems for other attendees.
If you’re bringing something ‘exotic’, we advise you message both the staff team and the venue. -
Everyone has a right to enjoy our meets. If somebody is upsetting or offending you, tell that person to stop. If somebody tells you to stop, please respect that person. No means No. Stop means Stop. Go Away means Go Away. If you are having a problem with another attendee, please consult an organiser.
If you have any problems, issues, or questions, please inform the organiser straight away.
Anyone breaking the rules will be given warnings. Repeated warnings, and serious incidents will result in an immediate ban. The organisers will decide how long the attendee is banned for.
Having said this, however, our furmeets have always been great fun. And with everyone’s help, we can keep them that way. So have fun, and we hope you enjoy your time at Birmingham Furs
